The world has not understood the way of peace.”More Radicals: Pope Francis has promoted radical Innsbruck bishop Manfred Scheuer. Confusion: During a Sunday visit in a Lutheran church in Rome, Pope Francis got himself entangled in countless contradictions while answering to a question whether Lutherans were allowed to receive Communion. Sandro Magister comments: “Reaching the end of the answer, one has no clue what Francis actually wanted to say. In some instances he seems to lean toward a ‘yes’. In other moments he shields himself with his own incompetence to decide. Or he defers everything to the choices of the individuals.”Mercy for Francis: Father George Byers has written on his blog an Open Letter to Pope Francis warning him that an attempt to preach heresy would not end well. Treasures of God? In an interview by a Dutch newspaper Pope Francis was asked whether he ever felt pressure to sell the Church’s treasures. He replied, "This is an easy question. They are not the treasures of the Church, but the treasures of humanity. If tomorrow I say that Michelangelo's Pieta is going to be auctioned, it can't be done, because it's not the property of the Church. It's inside a Church, but it belongs to humanity."Directly from Santa Marta? End of October the flamboyant Francesca Chaouqui was briefly arrested for having leaked Vatican documents to journalists. After her release she strongly protested her innocence. But yesterday Vatican Insider, which receives information directly from Pope Francis, wrote that Chaouqui was released only because she is pregnant. The Target: The website La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana writes that the new case of Vatileaks regarding the finances of the Vatican, is directed against Cardinal Pell, the Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy, who is hated by the radicals and by the media for having defended the faith during the last Synod of Bishops. La Bussola notices that in Pope Francis’ Council of nine Cardinals, Pell is the only Catholic voice.Ridiculous Sum: The new Vatican leaks will be published in Italy in two books to make stupid people believe that the Vatican owns incredible riches. For instances, it is said that the Vatican owes real estate worth five billion Dollars, most of it unsalable anyway. Besides that this is a ridiculous sum for an institution of the size of the Catholic Church. In comparison: Harvard University has an endowment of 48 billion Dollars.Angry Pope: Italian media write that Pope Francis is angered because of the new leaks from the Vatican. But he is also criticized internally because he chose monsignor Vallejo and the flamboyant Francesca Chaouqui, both of them involved in the leaks, and did not listen to the voices who warned him.Pregnant: The flamboyant Francesca Immacolata Chaouqui has declared to Vatican investigators that she is pregnant. She further sternly denied being involved in the recent leaks.Again Nuzzi: Some of the leaked documents will be published in a book by the Italian journalist Gianluigi Nuzzi. Evil Or Mad: The journalist Eugenio Scalfari writes that Pope Francis told him on the phone that he wants to allow adulterers to receive Communion if they want. Vatican spokesman Lombardi disclaimed calling Scalfari “in no way reliable”. Father Ray Blake comments: “Lombardi might tell us to move along, that there is nothing here every time the Pope gives an interview, and yet Francis keeps going back to the senile-none-note-taking-socialist-anti-clerical-journalist. Someone is either evil or mad in all of this and one hopes it is Scalfari.”Prison: Last Saturday the Vatican arrested Monsignore Lucio Angel Vallejo Balda and flamboyant Francesca Immacolata Chaouqui, both members of a financial commission that had full access to the Vatican finances and which was disolved after concluding its task. Both are suspected of having leaked financial documents. Monsignor Vallejo is a diocesan priest who belongs the Society of the Holy Cross, a branch of the Opus Dei. Sandro Magister comments: “Too bad that their unreliability was fully known since Jorge Mario Bergoglio entrusted the two with cleaning-up the Vatican administration.”Pope Francis’ Choice: The 33-year old flamboyant Francesca was controversial from the moment she was hired by Pope Francis. On her twitter account she referred to Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone as corrupt, to former Italian finance minister Giulio Tremonti as a homosexual whose Vatican Bank account was closed for that reason and claimed that Benedict XVI was suffering from leucemia. Francesca is a friend of Gianluigi Nuzzi, the author of one of the books that used the leaked material. She is close to the Opus Dei.The True Reason: Pope Francis forced 52-year-old Bishop Oscar Sarlinga of Zárate-Campana, Argentina, to resign. As usual in such cases, Sarlinga is accused of embezzlement and maltreatment of the clergy. But he also belongs to the Catholic wing of the Argentinean bishops which may be the true reason why he was fired.

Contradiction: Paragraph 58 of the final document of the Synod on the Family contradicts Familiaris Consortio. Nevertheless, it was voted by 94 percent of the probably clueless bishops. Paragraph 58 claims that the family can not be the only place for sex education. By contrast, Pope John Paul II says in Familiaris Consortio that sex education is the right and duty of the parents and can only take place under their control.Mercy Trick: Father Longenecker writes that – quote – “I’m having problems with the present talk about mercy in the Church.” He explains: “Of course I don’t have problems with the Divine Mercy, but with the way some churchmen and the press are using the concept of mercy to twist the Catholic Church’s teaching and practice.”Soviet Union is Now in the West: During a meeting with the Protestant Evangelist Franklin Graham, Moscow Patriarch Kirill said that Christian moral values in Western society have become secondary. Jesuit Father James Martin, the editor of the Jesuit magazine America published an unusual tweet. Quote: “A message to all you haters out there: I’m going to continue to preach a merciful God. So get ready for more mercy. A whole year of it.” Father Zuhlsdorff replied: “Haters? Are you 15, Father Martin?”Elliot Milco, a former student and teacher at Jesuit run Loyola Academy in Chicago, gives on his blog an interesting assesment of this school. Milco entered Loyola as a evangelical protestant. Quote: “It left me with a very cynical understanding of what Catholicism is about. Catholicism, I would have said in 2007, is an old religion that has recently tried to modernize, and done a bad job of it. Catholics do not have any special respect for Scripture. In order not to have to say that the Bible is a bunch of fables, they warp their understanding of "truth" into something relativistic and experiential.”Downhill: Vatican admits a dramatic crisis in vocations to the religious life. Except in Africa, the number of religious sinks world – quote - "dramatically" according to the secretary of the Congregation for Consecrated Life, Archbishop José Rodríguez Carballo. Quote: “Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil (Mt 5,37).”Clarity: Saint Paul writes in Romans: “A married woman will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive (Rom 7,3). He adds in 1 Corinthians: “Examine yourselves, and only then eat of the bread and drink of the cup. All who eat and drink without discerning the body, eat and drink judgment against themselves (1 Cor 11,29).”More Radicals: Pope Francis has named two radicals to head two important Italian dioceses. He replaced Bologna Cardinal Caffarra with Roman auxiliary bishop Matteo Maria Zuppi whom John Allen compares with Chicago archbishop Cupich. Further the Pope replaced Palermo Cardinal Romeo with Monsignior Corrado Lorefice, a liberal moral theologian.

Selective Mercy: In his Saturday speech to the Synod Pope Francis once again polemicized against – quote – “closed hearts which frequently hide behind the Church’s teachings or good intentions, in order to sit in the chair of Moses and judge difficult cases.” He recommended instead “God’s love and forgiveness”. Gloria.tv asks: How do we have to understand this when Francis himself threw pedophile archbishop Jozef Wesolowski without mercy into prison and let him die there?Green Light: Cardinal Hummes, the retired Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy, said to La Repubblica that the two-thirds in favour of Communion for the divorced and remarried are a green light for the Pope to change the Church. Hummes is a close friend of Pope Francis.Warning: Creative Minority Report warns that a post-synodal text is to be expected from the Pope. Quote: “It is clear from the Pope's angry and unbecoming closing speech that he did not get out of the Synod all he wished.” And: “The damage will be done post-synod. This isn't over, not by a long shot.”Liberal Win: Liberal Vatican commentator John Allan has called the Synod “wildly tumultuous” and reflecting “a narrow liberal win”. Quote: “In the wider Catholic world the Synod and its debate became a lightning rod, stirring anger and stoking suspicion.”Slope to Hell: Fr George Byers has criticized the Synod’s Final Report which says that a judgment about an objective sin must not lead to a judgment about subjective imputability. Father replies: “Misleading people into thinking that they are doing good enough puts them on a slippery slope to hell.”

Clean-Up: Yesterday the Polish bishops tried to clean up the confusion and division produced by the Synod on the Family. In an announcement addressed to the faithful in Poland, they fully confirmed Catholic doctrine as it was emphasized by Pope John Paul II. The bishops explicitaly stated that people who are divorced and remarried may not receive Holy Communion.Chaput top: At the Synod on the Family the participants elected 12 members of the new synodal council of 15 members. They will accompany the Synod’s secretary until the next Synod of Bishops will take place. The prelate who received the most votes was Philadelphia archbishop Charles Chaput. The three remaining members will be named by Pope Francis.Good Bishop: Philadelphia Archdiocese experiences a spike in ordinations under Archbishop Chaput. Already in Denver, where Chaput was before, the number of seminarians increased under him. The opposite happens in U.S. dioceses where Catholic bishops are followed by radical ones. In this case, the number of vocations immediately drops.Old Mass: Last weekend, the association Coetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum organized its fourth Old Rite pilgrimage to Rome. The president of Ecclesia Dei, Archbishop Pozzo, celebrated on Friday for the pilgrims in St. Peter's. On Saturday the celebrant was emeritus Argentinean Bishop Juan Rodolfo Laise. On Sunday, the abbot of Fontgombault celebrated Mass in the FSSP church Trinita dei Pellegrini.

The Radicals: According to Sandro Magister the most radical working group in the Synod was not the Circulus germanicus but the first Spanish group under Honduras Cardinal Rodriguez Maradiaga and Panama Cardinal Lacunza who asked the Synod for a – quote – “mercy similar to the mercy of Moses who conceded divorce to those hardened of heart.” In this group was also the rector of the Catholic University of Argentina who is an intimate friend of Pope Francis.Dreadful Truth: Father Ray Blake has called the Synod on the Family “the Synod of mistrust”. Quote: “It is one of the problems with the Francis papacy that will inevitably lead to its doom, that he has surrounded himself with men who prove themselves to be untrustworthy. A dreadful truth is you can tell a man by his friends.”Already decided: In Hildesheim diocese, Germany, a local synod has established 25 years ago that people living in adultery can decide in – what they call in Germany – a confession-talk with a priest whether they wish to receive Holy Communion or not. This is then called "personal decision based on conscience". The same practice is common for the whole of Germany, usually without bothering about a so-called confession-talk.Hope: Father Ibrahim Alsabagh, Catholic parish-priest in Aleppo, Syria, has welcomed the Russian intervention in his home country. Quote: “Now we have electricity and water. The Russians were able to chase away the men of ISIS”. According to him since the Russian Air Force has intervened, the situation of 85% of the population has greatly improved. Quote: “The Russians have helped the regular Syrian army to better defend the population.”

Tumor: The Vatican claimed, a report of the Quotidiano Nazionale that Pope Francis has a curable brain tumor is “totally unfounded.” But the denial says nowhere that the report was “wrong”. Andrea Cangini, the newspaper's editor, said he expected the denial. Quote: "We waited a long time before publishing the report in order to carry out every possible check. We don't have the slightest doubt that it is founded."Everybody: For Ross Douthat the Synod debates about whether conversion precedes Holy Communion or Communion precedes conversion. If Communion should precede conversion, then Douthat asks: “Why should only remarried, gay or polygamous Catholics be welcomed at the altar? If the template for Holy Communion is Jesus’s meals with the unconverted, then this would apply to any human being, period, since who wouldn’t Jesus have dined with?” Then, according to Douthat, barring anyone whether Protestant, Jew, Moslem or atheist from receiving Communion makes no sense at all.Not Smart: Damian Thompson writes that Pope Francis is at war with the Vatican. Quote: “If he wins, the Church could fall apart.” Pope Francis told the Synod last Saturday that decentralization of the Church will be imposed from above. Thompson comments: “If the Pope wants to make far-reaching changes to pastoral practice, even to doctrine, then there are smarter ways of achieving this than by hosting a catastrophically divided synod and then hinting that he intends to do his own thing anyway.Hope At Last: Msgr Georges Abou Khazen, the Latin Apostolic Vicar of Aleppo, Syria, has said that the Russian intervention has led to greater efficiency in the fight against ISIS – quote – “because their fighter jets hit their targets, they do not pretend to hit them." He says that the U.S. military operation – quote - "was purposely not effective." He accuses the U.S. and Saudi Arabia to support foreign fighters who came from outside and have no interest in creating a modern and democratic nation". He believes that Moscow wants a political process to start. Quote: “We, Christian leaders and Syrian civilians, have some hope."

Old Ways of Sin: Bombay Cardinal Gracias has said in an interview with the homosex organization New Ways Ministry that it would have been a – quote – “enrichment” if practicing homosexuals had spoken at the Synod on the Family. Gracias belongs to the group of prelates who will write the final report.Honeymoon Over: Alexander Stille writes in The New Yorker that the honeymoon for Pope Francis is over, at least among the bishops and Cardinals. Stille quotes a Vatican source he met during the Pope’s visit to the U.S. Quote - “If a conclave were to be held today, Francis would be lucky to get ten votes.” And: “He gets an A-plus on public relations, but an F on all the rest.”A Kingdom Divided Against Itself: The web-side of Vatican Radio has become an image of the present turmoil inflicted upon the Church. On one side, Polish Radio Vatican is reporting in a Catholic sense. On the other hand, English and German Radio Vatican have espoused those radical positions that have led the Church in West into self-destruction.Fabricated: Bishop Patras Minj of Ambikapur has asked the Indian president to look into the case of Father Joseph Dhanaswami, the principal of a Catholic High School, accused of raping a fourth-grade girl. According to the bishop police is working under pressure from Hindu extremists. The priest initially was charged with child abuse which was later changed to rape "without any material proof." Recently a medical team forced the imprisoned priest to masturbate. But their efforts to collect his semen failed. According to the Vicar General the case is totally fabricated.

No Surprise: Speaking to the Synod of Bishops, radical Munich Cardinal Marx has asked for offering Communion to people living in adultery. His demand does not come as a surprise. All German dioceses have for decades openly invited adulterors and even Protestants to receive Communion. Any bishop or priest challenging this tacit agreement would lose his job.Surprise Move: In a surprise move, Pope Francis has invited Jesus Christ to address the Synod of Bishops. In front of the gathered prelates, Jesus Christ said only one sentence and then disappeared. Quote: “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery.” (Luke 16:18).Furies: On October 13th, a National Meeting of Women assembled in the town of Mar del Plata, Argentina. They carried with them a big model of a vagina. In the town center they attacked the Cathedral, which was protected by five policemen and male faithful who prayed the rosary. In the face of the church, the feminists turned almost immediately into furies, stripped themselves, attacked the house of God and destroyed its railings and flowers. Under the influence of alcohol and drugs they screamed profanities, kindled fires and started street-fights with the police leaving a sea of destruction. The event was hushed up by mainstream media.Politics: Over 30 priests, mostly orthodox, participate in this year's local elections in the Ukraine on the lists of nearly all parties. Two of them are Greek-Catholic although they are forbidden by Church law to participate. Priests who run for office have admitted that having a mandate makes easier for them to get land or to receive building permits.

No Head: Retired Cardinal Francis Arinze has replied to the proposal to allow divorced and civilly remarried Catholics to receive Communion. Quote: “You don’t solve a headache, by cutting off the head!”Philological Grexit: Saturday morning, Pope Francis marked the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Synod of Bishops. In an address he outlined his vision for a Church that is – quote - “synodal” at every level. He referred the meaning of the Greek roots “synodos” as “walking together”. Even though often repeated this is wrong. “Synodos” simply means “assembly” or “meeting”.Unthinkable: Archbishop Lorenzo Ghizzoni of Ravenna, Italy, allowed the Fraternity of Saint Pius X to celebrate Mass twice in the parish Santa Maria del Torrione. As an auxiliary bishop, Ghizzoni was an archenemy of the Latin Mass. But after Pope Francis allowed the SSPX priests to hear confessions, the Italian bishops are now eager to adapt, according to primapaginareggio.it. Quote: “Until yesterday it was unthinkable to open the parishes to those priest, almost as if they were lepers, today is almost wished.” Father Zuhlsdorf comments: “This smacks of that gray chaotic area Pope Francis seems so fond of.”Seminarians. In 2015 the Society of Saint Pius X has received 53 new seminarians. Most of them entered for the seminaries in the northern hemisphere, Europe and United States where the religious crisis is most virulent. Another ten young men entered to become brothers of the Society.

Justice: Cardinal Philippe Ouedraogo of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, has criticized the ongoing Synod on the Family. Quote: “Since Westerners have redacted the Instrumentum Laboris it is obvious that its point of view is essentially occidental.” Ouedraogo said that polygamy is the much bigger problem in Africa than divorce and remarriage. In other words: If the bishops want to allow adulterous couples to receive Holy Communion, it is a matter of justice to allow polygamist to do the same.Force-Feeding: Father George Byers has summarized the impression, the Synod on the Family has given so far. Quote: “No one feels invited right now to know the joy felt by the adulterous woman when Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go and do not sin again.” People feel terribly insulted when they are arrogantly, condescendingly force-fed “the tranquilizing drug of gradualism”.”Collapse: According to Father Ray Blake the discussion in the Synod Hall has moved from the question over the unity and dissolubility of marriage to the question of the unity and dissolubility of the Church. According to Blake the interconnection of truths explains this. Quote: “Remove or weaken one truth and the whole edifice will begin to collapse. We are watching the collapse!”Sentimentalism: A bishop at the Synod played the sentimental card in order to make a case for giving communion to adulterers. He recounted the story of a boy who made his first Communion. After he had received the host in the hand, he broke it and gave one piece to his father who for unknown reasons was next to him. The father could not receive Communion because according to the bishop he is divorced and remarried.Thank you Putin: Speaking at Tuesday’s meeting of the British House of Lords, Greek Catholic Archbishop Jean-Clement Jeanbart of Aleppo said that Syria has strived for the past 60 years to become a modern secular state. He said that Western support for militants against President Assad was destroying all progress. Syrian Christians were supportive of the Russian intervention because it gives them hope that the war would end in a solution favorable to them. For Jeanbart the claim that “moderate rebels” were fighting to win democracy was a “big lie”. He added that there was a war waged between a modern secular state, tolerant of religious minorities, and brutal jihadi groups.
