Angry Pope: Sandro Magister has pointed out to the fact that the letter of the 13 cardinals he published yesterday, was made public already on October 8th by Andrea Tornielli on Vatican Insider. Tornielli is Pope Francis’ court journalist who often visits him in Santa Marta. His article shows detail knowledge of the intervention and does not hide anger about it. Also Francis showed an indignant reaction after receiving the letter when he launched an attack against the 13 Cardinals during the plenary meeting of the Synod on Tuesday, October 6th.Surprising? Statistics released last week show that U.S. Episcopalians continue to decrease at an alarming rate. The group has lost 50% of its members since the mid-1960s, even as the U.S. population has more than doubled. It has lost more than a quarter of its attendance since 2003. Should it surprise Gloria.tv that a majority of the Synod on the Family seems to want to go down the Episcopalian slope?Horrific: 17-year-old Emily Pascal from Gurnee, Illinois, had her healthy breast removed to make her look exteriorly like a male. Her parents cited a potential suicide as a key reason for pursuing the body-disfiguring operations. They were encouraged by the open homosexual Robert Garofalo, who heads up the “Gender and Sex Development Program” in Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Peter La Barbara writes on amerciansforthruth.com: “I am stunned at what passes for science and medical care these days.” And: “Will we all one day as taxpaying Americans be subsidizing these horrific procedures through Obama-care?”Dry: Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin who is in charge of Foreign Affairs of Moscow Patriarchate, has revealed that he liked the music Elton John produced from the 1970s to early 2000s. But he believes that homosexuality negatively influenced Elton John’s work. “His creative energy started running dry," the priest told Interfax-Religion on Monday. According to Chaplin, "homosexuality changes a person's psychology and his public and creative priorities."

Homosex Scandal in Rome: Last Sunday, the priest and the assistant of the Roman parish Santa Teresa d’Avila were transferred. The parish is run by the Discalced Carmelites whose general-house is adjacent to it. Father Alessandro Donati, one of the two priests had denounced a high member of the Carmelites’ general council of a homosexual affaire with vulnerable adults, contacted as male prostitutes in nearby Villa Borghese. The affaire involved alcohol and prickly poppy extracts. The General of the Carmelites, Father Saverio Cannistrà, reacted by removing both, the homosexual and his accuser. Now, the parish is infuriated. Parishioners wrote to Pope Francis but remained without an answer.More Troubling News: In the meantime new troubling news emerged from the same Discalced Carmelites involving the beating of Sebastiano F., a then 45-year-old homeless male prostitute. The incident happened in December 2006 in the Roman park Villa Borghese. The prostitute arrived in hospital in very serious condition and remained there for months. In summer 2006 he had revealed a homosex relation with a high-ranking Carmelite that had lasted for years. The Pope’s Decision: Cardinal George Pell has declared in an interview that he remains quote – “a bit worried” about the composition of the commission of ten Fathers whom Pope Francis has put in charge to draft the final report of the Synod. To the question whether the composition of this group could still change, Pell replied: “It depends from the Pope, this is his decision, he has all rights.”Episcopal Nihilism: Christian Geyer-Hindemith writing in the Frankfurter Allgemeine, has ridiculed the German language group at the Synod which proposed to avoid “negative language” in order to please the adversary. Geyer-Hindemith asks: “What shall we think of a position which simply tries to reproduce the pluralism of society, although according to sociological analysis the Church has only a chance to be heard in the orchestra of voices if it is a self-opinionated, non-pluralistic voice?”

Conspiracy: Sandro Magister writes that Cardinal Pell handed over to the Pope a letter signed by 13 Cardinals. Among them: Caffarra, Collins, Dolan, Eijk, Müller, Napier, Pell, Sarah, and Urosa. They voiced concerns that the Synod is “designed to facilitate predetermined results” and that the Instrumentum laboris is inadequate. Yesterday four cardinals also on Magister’s original list, denied having signed the letter: Erdö, Scola, Vingt-Trois and Piacenza. It is likely that they actually did sign but under the condition that the letter would not be made public. So the question is: Who made it public and why?Split: Damian Thompson comments on the letter of the 13 Cardinals: “I’m one of countless commentators who has warned that holding this synod could split the church. Now it’s happening, much faster than any of us anticipated.”Universal Brotherhood: Tomorrow, Cardinal Loris Capovilla, the former private secretary of John XXIII will turn 100. In an interview he said that there is a big difference between the present Church and the Church that baptized him. Now the Church – quote – “has opened its eyes and has expanded the space of the heart. We witness miracles of charity, of love, of tolerance and universal brotherhood.” Capovilla believes that we are living in the dawn of the Church.Refuge? In an interview, Rorate Caeli asked Cardinal Burke whether the Sovereign Military Order of Malta would be able to function as an Apostolic Administration, giving faculties for traditional priests. The Cardinal answered that the Order has received such requests. Quote: “We're studying the whole situation”. And: “It has happened in the past, and there's no reason why it couldn't continue to happen, not in virtue of the establishment of an Apostolic Administration, but in virtue of the nature of the Order.”

Muzzle: A Vatican speaker has said on Twitter that Synod Secretary Cardinal Baldisseri has told the participants of the Synod, that they can publish their own interventions but not the statements of others. It seems that this was directed against the blog of Poznan Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, the president of the Polish Bishops’ Conference who is an outspoken critic of homosex- and divorce-ideology. His last blog entry is from October 7th.War Machine: The Italian journalist Alessandro Socci has called the present Synod of Bishops an Argentinean war machine with a German engine. Quote: “One knows, in these times, that the German engines need to be scrapped and the Argentinean coachwork is junk mixed with Peronism and rusty liberation theology.”Disastrous Recipes: According to Socci today’s paradox consists in the fact that at the helm of the Church are those whose recipes have proven to be unsuccessful in their own countries. Quote: “They want to apply their disastrous recipes to the whole Church, with devastating effects on a global scale.” Socci refers to the downfall of the Church in South-America and in Germany.Whirlwind: Socci believes that the embarrassing coming out Vatican Monsignor Charamsa would not have been possible without Pope Francis’ many disconcerting openings and his Who-Am-I -to-Judge statement. Socci sees a fulfillment of Hosea 8,7: "They that sow the wind shall reap the whirlwind"

No Faithful: According to Archbishop Chaput during a press briefing many participants at the Synod have complained that the Instrumentum laboris does not reflect the position of the universal Church but presents the limited view of the European Church that is know for having no faithful.Seven Out of Ten: Sandro Magister has examined the ten-member commission appointed by Pope Francis to write the final report on the synod. Four of them (Cardinal Wuerl, Archbishop Fernández, Cardinal Dew and Bishop Semeraro) were appointed by Francis to the Synod. All of them are pro-divorce and pro-homosex. At least three other members represent the same ideology: Cardinal Baldisseri, Archbishop Forte, and the Superior General of the Jesuits, Fr Nicolás Pachón.Power: The magazine Italia Oggi writes that Pope Francis likes to play humble but is running the Vatican like an autocratic ruler who treats bishops like alter-boys and has no interest in sharing his power. Quote: “The Vatican is run by a radical Pope King although you are not allowed to say it.”Catholicism: The Society of Saint Pius X published a video of a Candlelight Rosary Procession in St. Marys, Kansas, asking the viewers to pray and sacrifice through the duration of the Synod.” OnePeterFive.com comments: “This is what Catholicism is supposed to look like.” And: “The institutional Church gives us an endless parade of perverse clerics trying to tear down Christ’s teaching, while the SSPX gives us this.”

Teflon Pope: John Allen writes that Pope Francis is in a position to ride out whatever storms may come because he’s insulated by his own narrative. Quote: “Francis is the “People’s Pope,” a humble, simple reformer trying to steer Catholicism toward greater compassion and mercy. It’s made him a moral hero outside the bounds of the Church, as well as something of a “Teflon” figure to whom no criticism ever seems to stick for very long.”Bad Average: The 13 discussion groups at the Synod have elected their moderators and speakers. Of the thirteen moderators, three can be recognized as defenders of Catholic positions: the Cardinals Sarah, Pell and Bagnasco. Among the thirteen speakers only two are likely to present Catholic positions: Archbishop Chaput and Cardinal Piacenza. The latter was removed by Francis as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy.Gradualism: Father Ray Blake has published another pearl. Quote: “I wonder if Gradualism itself was the cause of the cover-up of child abuse. We tried to see the good and ignored the evil men did. We overlooked heresy because we saw niceness.”More Inviting: Eva Brunne, a Swedish Lutheran bishopess and lesbian, has proposed to remove Christian symbols of the Seamen's Church in Stockholm, to make it more inviting for other religions. She also suggested setting up in the church a prayer room that marks the direction of Mecca. She believes this would make the church less offensive to the Muslim refugees entering the country.Converted? Bolivia president Evo Morales attended Mass for the feast of Saint Francis after more than 40 years of absence. Morales said that he – quote – “prayed for the life of Pope Francis, that his struggle for equality and solidarity and against the capitalist system will end well."

Clarification: Yesterday, Pope Francis said at the Synod on the Family, that “Catholic doctrine on marriage was never put in discussion by last year’s Synod.” He also asked “not to reduce the themes of the Synod to Communion for remarried divorcees.”Plenty Of Reasons: Catholic columnist Patrick Archbold sees plenty of reasons to suspect that Francis “wants the heretical innovators to prevail.” He remembers the selection of Cardinal Kasper to deliver the preparatory speech in February 2014 that put the question of communion for adulterers front and center. According to Archbold since then, Francis has not changed his course.Discussion: Pro-homosex and pro-divorce Munich Cardinal Marx revealed to La Reppublica that homosexuality will be at the center of a specific discussion at the Synod. Quote: “This is an important topic.” Marx admitted that there is little interaction between the liberal Cardinals and the Catholic Cardinals.Disturbing: US Senator John McCain has claimed that the Russians are not bombing ISIS in Syria but the anti-government rebels trained by the CIA. Archbishop Jacques Behnan Hindo commented: “I find these words are disturbing. They are a blatant admission that behind the war against Assad there is also the CIA". Hindo added: “Western propaganda keeps talking about moderate rebels, who do not exist". And: “There is a superpower that protests because the Russians hit al-Qaeda in Syria. What does this mean? That Al-Qaeda is now a US ally.”

No Support: Vatican speaker Lombardi has declared that Pope Francis’ meeting with Kim Davis, the county clerk who refused to issue homsex marriage licences, - quote – “should not be considered a form of support of her position”. He stated that Francis met with several dozen persons, invited by the Nunciature in Washington to greet him. Lombardi added that the only real audience granted by the Pope at the Nunciature was with one of his former students. He showed up with his homosex lover. Francis embraced him enthusiastically.Mess Or Chaos: Father Ray Blake quoted on his blog a priest he heard Sunday morning on the radio. Quote: "No-one doubts Francis' ability to make a mess, what matters is his ability to bring order out of the chaos".Already Over? The journalist Antonio Socci is pessimistic about the outcome of the Synod on the Family. Quote: “Just started, this Synod is already finished. In fact the conclusion is already written. The Argentine referee ruled at the table early victory of the leftwing faction that he himself heads.” Socci quotes Is 5,20: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.”Pandora’s Box? Commenting on last week’s coming out of a Vatican prelate the journalist Sandro Magister writes: “A similar coming-out might also be expected from many homosexual priests who make up the entourage of Pope Francis, in leading roles and in unprecedented numbers.

Manipulation: Voice of the Family fears that the Synod on the Family will again be manipulated and gives seven reasons for it. [1] The liberal manipulators of last year’s Synod remain in control. [2] The Instrumentum Laboris used undermines Catholic morals. [3] The participants were surprise by a last minute change in running the Synod. [4] Cardinal Baldisseri, the Synod’s secretary general, refused to explain how the membership of the small groups was determined. [5] He refused to affirm that a 2/3 majority for approval is still required. [6] Pope Francis entrusted leading dissenters with drafting the final report. [7] A supervising committee includes Baldisseri and Archbishop Forte, meaning that they supervise themselves.Suicide Gay Baiting: Father George Byers has commented on the Vatican monsignor who last Saturday outed himself as a homosexual, abandoning the Vatican and the Church. Quote: “I hope he doesn’t commit suicide, something which has already been brought up by those who know him.” And: “I would lay the blame for that at the feet of the Synod manipulators. It’s called suicide gay baiting, which is very serious and irresponsible.”Excommunicated: The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in Cyprus has excommunicated lay theologian and former member of EU Parliament, Andreas Pitsillídis. He had expressed heterodox and immoral views on abortion, homosexuality, confession and the Eucharist. The Synod quoted 1 Tim 6,3: “Whoever does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that is in accordance with godliness, is conceited, understanding nothing, and has a morbid craving for controversy and for disputes about words. From these come envy, dissension, slander, base suspicions.”Omission: Sandro Magister has pointed out to an omission in the encyclical “Laudato si”. In its second chapter Francis quotes Deuteronomy 22,4-6 in order to point out that the Bible insists on respecting nature. But, surprise, he omits Dt 22,5. Why? Here is the verse: “A woman shall not wear a man’s apparel, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment; for whoever does such things is abhorrent to the Lord your God.”

Shadow Synod? Italian journalist Marco Tosatti reports that a group of about thirty persons, most of them Jesuits, plus some Argentineans, is working in great secrecy around the themes of the Synod. The group is led by the Jesuit Antonio Spadaro, the director of the Vatican periodical Civiltà Cattolica. Spadaro has lately spent a lot of time talking to Pope Francis. Tosatti supposes that the group is drafting for the Pope a document on Communion for adulterers and practicing homosexuals, since the Synod will not publish any documents.Cheap Mercy: In an interview with il Corriere della Sera, heterodox German Cardinal Walter Kasper has accused those who disagree with his extremist positions of “fundamentalism”. Kasper puts the fact in question that Jesus Christ or Saint Paul taught the indissolubility of marriage. However, his universal call for cheap mercy is though limited to those mortal sins which, at the moment, happen to be politically correct like adultery, homosexuality or abortion.Ask Pope Francis: In May 2014 Cardinal Kasper claimed that Pope Francis believes that 50 percent of Catholic marriages are not valid. On September 30th Fr Zuhlsdorf received the following question from a reader: “If approximately 50% of current “Catholic” marriages are actually invalid, how do I know if my marriage is valid?” Fr Zuhlsdorf’s immediate answer: “I am tempted to tell you, call Francis and ask him.”A Lutheran: Jens-Martin Kruse is the pastor of a Lutheran parish in Rome, which Pope Francis will visit in November. Toscanaoggi.it asked him – quote - who is Pope Francis for you Lutherans? His answer: “For us Lutherans in Rome, he is our bishop.” Kruse totally agrees with what Francis says about mercy. Quote: “The Lutherans have always thought like this.”

Hell Loose: 13 homosex organizations which claim to be “Catholic” will meet during the Family Synod in Rome. They want to create a network to undermine Catholic teaching. Among the participants is former Irish president Mary McAleese who is also pro abortion. Other participants are pro-abortion Sister Jeannine Gramick and notoriously prohomosex bishop Raul Vera of Saltillo, Mexico. Among the 13 groups is the Zambian “Dette Resources Foundation” which is financed by the Dutch organisation Hivos which is run by Church-hating atheists.Hoax: On Tuesday, the news agency AFP claimed that Pope Francis allegedly called leftwing mayor of Rome, Ignazio Marino a «pretend Catholic». Predictably, the article was a hoax. Marino who is pro-abortion and pro-homosex, participated at the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. During the flight back to Rome Francis, in answering a question about Marino, clarified that Marino was not officially invited to the meeting and said: “Lui si professa cattolico”. In English: “He professes to be a Catholic.”A Step Backwards: In an interview with an Italian newspaper, Cardinal Robert Sarah, the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, said that homosex liaisons are not only a problem for the Church but for all humanity. Quote: “They are a step backwards in culture and civilization. No non-Western culture goes in the direction of the approval of homosexual unions.” And: “Homosexual unions are totally contrary to the plan of God, who created man and woman in order that they complement each other. From this union the family it born and the future of society. A homosexual union has no future; it does not give life.”Petition: Bishop Bernard Fellay, the superior general of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X, has send a petition to Pope Francis asking him – quote – “to let your voice resound throughout the world with a word of truth, clarity, and firmness, in defense of Christian and even merely human marriage”. The petition is entrusted to Saint John the Baptist, who underwent martyrdom for having publicly defended the sanctity and exclusivity of marriage.

Bad Company: According to bookmakers, Pope Francis is in pole position to receive this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. Most of those who received the price since 1901 are forgotten now. Nevertheless, if Francis would indeed receive and accept the price he would be in bad company with price-winners such as Sir Austen Chamberlain, Martin Luther King, Amnesty International, Menachem Begin, Nelson Mandela, the United Nations, the European Union, Al Gore or the war criminal Barack Obama.Gospel of Sexual Aberration: In an interview with Gloria.tv John Henry Westen, editor-in-chief of lifesitenews.com, has accused homosex ideology of aspiring to be a pseudo-religion: "They are making it a national, a one-world-religion that requires obedience. If you don't show obedience, you lose your job and may be put in jail.” According to Westen everyone is forced to accept and appreciate homosex liasons. Westen blames the bishops in the USA and Europe for having being “silent on these issues for some fifty years: "At the same time the secular pulpits have preached the gospel of sexual aberration from every book and magazine and screen on earth.”Sexual Aberration: Bishop Franz-Josef Bode of Osnabrück, Germany, expects from the Synod on the Family that the Pope – quote – “does not repeat about marriage what the Catholic Church has always taught.” Bode also refuses to consider homosex liaisons as gravely sinful. On the contrary, he sees in this abuse "a lot of values such as loyalty, reliability and love."Pro-Death Nun: On Monday, a group of 44 so called religious leaders published an open letter in support of the criminal organisation Planned Parenthood which is responsible for murdering unborn babies and selling their body-parts. Among those who signed the letter is Sr Jeannine Gramick, a pro-abortion sister of Notre Dame who also promotes homosex ideology.

His Shirts: On Sunday, the pope addressed the 300 bishops from around the world gathered in Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families. He recalled a mother saying to him, “My son is 34 years old and he’s not getting married. I don’t know what to do.” Francis’ reply: “I say, don’t iron his shirts anymore!”Twice A Day: According to the journalist Andrea Tornielli the old black bag which Pope Francis likes to carry personally into planes contains his personal effects, including his razor which he uses twice a day: at 4:30 in the morning when he wakes up, and in the early afternoon after the siesta. The reason for the second shave: Francis does not want that his beard prickles the children he greets.Little Change: The Washington Post blog Monkey Cage shows that American Catholics may not be persuaded by The Pope’s message to feel empathy for immigrants. It refers to a study conducted in 2012. The outcome: Methodists, Southern Baptists and Lutherans became more favorable to immigration when exposed to pro-immigration messages attributed to their denomination’s leadership, Catholics instead were uniquely resistant to clergy leadership on immigration. The conclusion: The Pope’s address to Congress may end up much like the president’s addresses to Congress: They generate a lot of attention but only a tiny amount of change. When Cheering Ends: According to Ross Douthat Pope Francis has been a gift to believers whose politics lean left. But for Douthat this is a losing path. Quote: “The mainline Protestant denominations associated with progressive politics have experienced a steep decline in membership and influence, while American liberalism has become more secular and anti-clerical, culminating in the Obama White House’s battles with Francis’ own Church.” Douthat fears that after the cheering ends, the same winter that enveloped liberal Protestantism after the 1960s will claim Franciscan Catholicism as well.

Very Sad: On Friday, Pope Francis celebrated a Mass in the New York event arena Madison Square Garden. The actor and open homosexual Mo Rocca presented the first reading. Church enemies interpreted the event as a clear homosex signal, not just a subtle message. When New York introduced homosex pseudo-marriage in 2011 Rocca commented: "It was very memorable, very emotional.”Glowing Media Coverage: According to John Allen the Pope’s US trip showed that the ‘Pope Francis honeymoon’ is still in full swing. No wonder, believe other commentators, because during his journey, Francis avoided hot topics or spoke about them in a way that people barely understood he had done so. This way he accommodated the expectations of the big of this world, who rewarded his keeping mum with a glowing media coverage.Yes, Absolutely: Fr Robert Sirico, the founder of the Acton Institute, was asked by Fox News whether he is disappointed about what Pope Francis has said about economics. His answer: “Yes absolutely, the Pope himself has admitted he doesn’t understand economics.” And: “I wish he would be a bit more cautious in making economic applications.”Booby Prize: Cardinal Raymond Burke has been appointed by Pope Francis to the Congregation for the Cause of Saints. After too many controversial and political canonizations this Congregation has now a shaky reputation.

Dangerous Directions: Political commentator Andrew Napolitano believes that the pope uses moral relativism to take the Church in two dangerous directions. Quote: “The first is an assault on the family, and the second is an assault on the free market — two favorite political targets of the left.”Basic Duties: According to Napolitano the pope has disappointed those who believe the Catholic Church preserves and teaches the Truth. Quote: “The Truth is Christ risen and unity with Him. It is not a debate about the minimum wage or air conditioning.” Napolitano adds: “If Francis fails in his basic duties as the pope, if his concern is more for secular than sacred, if he aids the political agenda of the atheistic left, he is a false prophet leading his flock to a dangerous place, where there is more central planning and less personal liberty.”Moral Confusion: American columnist Pat Buchanan has noticed that Pope Francis declined to address the repression of the Castro regime in Cuba. Buchanan asks: “Will he also avoid America’s moral crisis to chatter on about income inequality and climate change and find common ground with Obama?” For Buchanan, what has come out of the Vatican in the past two years is moral confusion.Something Missing? Creative Minority Report has published a word cloud for Pope Francis’ speech to the Congress of the United states. The blog asks: “What is missing?”.The Empire State Building did not light its towers Thursday night in honor of Pope Francis. Instead, it will acknowledge the opening night gala of the New York Philharmonic. Catholic League’s Bill Donohue comments: “This decision by Anthony Malkin, the principal owner of the iconic building, shows his true colors once again: his disdain for Catholics is palpable.” Donohue adds: “Malkin is most known for stiffing Mother Teresa on the anniversary of her centenary. Now he’s stiffing Pope Francis and, by extension, all Catholics.” Donohue concludes: “Malkin represents intolerance and disrespect for diversity. He is a disgrace to all New Yorkers.”

Historic: Speaking to reporters on the plane from Cuba to Washington Pope Francis mentioned the story of a cardinal who is his personal friend and who told him about an older Catholic lady - quote - "a good woman, but a bit rigid," who is convinced that Pope Francis is an anti-pope of even the Anti-Christ. On the question why she had that conviction she allegedly answered: “Because he renounced the red shoes, which are so historic.'" Gloria.tv hopes that Catholic morals will not be another “historic” pair of shoes Pope Francis will renounce.Blue-Eyed? While being in Cuba Pope Francis cared more about the woolves than about the lambs according to Sandro Magister. He showed no interest to meet opponents of the Castro regime, many of them Catholics. In front of the journalist on his flight to the U.S. he admitted that while talking to the dictator Fidel Castor he did not mention the oppression of the Cuban people, much less the persecution of the Church. When a journalist mentioned fifty dissidents who were arrested in the context of his visit, Francis answered: “I have no information that this has happened.”Unease: According to the Wall Street Journal, practicing Catholics in the U.S. have greeted Pope Francis at the beginning of this visit to the United States with unease. The Journal calls them – quote - “faithful who have provided a strong and energetic base for the Church over the last three decades.”More Shoes: Pro-gay and pro-divorce Cardinal Nichols of Westminster, London, expects the upcoming Synod on the Family to make changes in the Church’s approach towards divorced Catholics who have entered a civil pseudo-marriage. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that such people are in a situation of “public and permanent adultery”. But Nichols seems to believe that he or the Church are not bound to Catholic doctrine or that one can change Catholic doctrine like a pair of shoes.

Lack Of Fortitude? An article signed by the Editorial Board of the Washington Post writes that Pope Francis spent four days in Cuba, a brutal Communist dictatorship, without saying or doing – quote – “absolutely nothing that might discomfit his official hosts”. Francis did not meet with any members of the dissident community. The article expects Francis to be more critical in the United States. Quote: “It takes more fortitude to challenge a dictatorship than a democracy.”Soft on Dictators? The Italian journalist Antonio Socci asks Pope Francis the question: “Dear Pope, why do you honour tyrants and umilate those persecuted?” Socci refers to the pope’s visit with the brethren Castro – quote – “a Communist dynasty who have suppressed the people of Cuba for almost sixty years.” He accuses Francis that he, unlike John Paul II and Benedict XVI who also visited Cuba, did not say anything inconvenient for the local dictators.Bigottery: On Monday the Washington Post published an article by columnist George Will, a self-described atheist, who claims that the Pope stands – quote – “against modernity, rationality, science and, ultimately…open societies.” Catholic League’s Bill Donohue comments: “This is the kind of anti-Catholic trope that uneducated bigots have been trotting out for about a century.” Donohue adds: “If it weren’t for Catholicism, there would be no Age of Science.”Catholic Perspective: On October 2, Courage International and Ignatius Press will hold their first Rome conference at the Angelicum to address the pastoral needs of persons suffering from homosexual tendencies. The Cardinals Robert Sarah and George Pell will participate. Those interested in registering can visit www.truthandlove.com

Bye Bye Collegiality: In the upcoming Synod of Bishops the rules have been changed. The Synod’s conclusions will be communicated in the Pope’s final address, not in a mid-term report, a final message or by a post-synodal apostolic exhortation. According to Andrea Gagliarducci this is the way that collegiality is being shunted aside, because the Pope’s final message will overshadow everything else, and only his voice will be heard. Quote: “No pope before this one has ever played such a crucial role during the actual Synod of Bishops, only to forego issuing a concluding document.”Faithful Catholic? In an interview with Fr Matt Malone, the editor in chief of the Jesuit America magazine, prohomosex and pro-abortion U.S. vice president Joseph Biden sings the praises of Pope Francis. Quote: “He is the embodyment of Catholic social doctrine, the idea that everybody is entitled to dignity.” But Biden denies dignity to unborn children. Fr. Malone calls Biden during the interview a – quote – “faithful Catholic”.No Hypocrisy: Aleida Guevara, daughter of Argentina born terrorist Che Guevara, declined an official invitation to attend the papal Mass on Sunday in Cuba. She said that doing so would have been “hypocritical.” Che Guevara is a national hero in Communist Cuba.Tired: Bishop Franghiskos Papamanolis, the president of Greece’s Bishops Conference has called the victory of left-wing prime-minister Alexis Tsipras in last Sunday’s election a “victory reduced by half”. Papamanolis points out that over 43% of the population did not participate in the vote, according to him out of distrust toward Greek politicians and despair about the future of the country. The bishop reminds that in the January elections Tsipras promised heaven and earth but in reality did nothing. Quote: “I am not very optimistic. We are tired and disheartened”.

In Suspense: During his trip to Cuba and the U.S., Pope Francis will celebrate three Masses in Spanish, two in Cuba and one in the U.S.. In Cuba, the chalice will be “given up for all”, while in Washington the chalice will be “poured out for many”. In the English Masses the Eucharistic prayer containing the words of consecration will be in Latin and will therefore say “poured out for many”. According to Sandro Magister one can deduce from this that the question which Benedict XVI unsuccessfully tried to resolve almost ten years ago has been left in suspense by Francis.Admitting Mistakes: The Italian historian Roberto de Mattei has suggested that Pope Francis’ Motu proprio which introduces controversial changes in the annullment process and which will not be in force until dicember 8th should be discussed during the upcoming Synod on the Family and that the Cardinals should ask its repeal. As example, de Mattei refers to a wrong decision of Pius VII who promulgated a concordate by which he made Napoleon de facto head of the French Church. Pressured by cardinals who defended the Catholic doctrine, Pius VII admitted his mistake and revoked the concordate.Media Likability: According to the Washington Post, Americans widely admire Pope Francis, but his church less so. According to the paper there is further no evidence that Francis’s likability has boosted Catholic identification, worship attendance or prayer. The Washington Post accuses Francis of not having made any significant changes to Catholic teaching on issues that put the papacy at odds with some American parishioners.Irrational: Fr John Zuhlsdorf has criticized Michael Voris’ somewhat irrational cruciade against the Priestly Society of St. Pius X. Voris claims that the SSPX is schismatic contradicting the Vatican which has stated many times that it is not. Fr Zuhlsdorf comments: “We should not throw “schism” around and about the heads of the SSPX, even though we also should not deny that they are in a decidedly bad canonical situation.” Father adds: “I’ll repeat also what I have written many times. I look forward to the complete reconciliation of the SSPX. They have great contributions to make.”

Covering Up Child Abuse? – No Problem: Voice of the Family has commented on the fact that Pope Francis has personally appointed retired Brussels Cardinal Danneels to the upcoming Synod on the Family although Danneels has covered up child abuse in the past. But for the Vatican and for the media this seems to be no problem, since Danneels is strongly pro-divorce and pro-homosex. The conclusion: The political agenda is more important than child abuse.Mess: Fr Ray Blake whose blog keeps getting better and better has commented on the upcoming Synod of the Family. Quote: “I fear the approaching Synod. I'm not sure what will emerge, something unpleasant most probably. I am not sure if human inefficiency or Pope Francis or the Holy Spirit is behind the mess but there seem to be numerous agendas.”Collegiality is Gone: Brilliant Fr Blake has also deep insights into the present pontificate. Quote: “Yet though the Pope speaks of decentralisation and synodality this is imposed by the most monarchical papacy ever.” And: “I am sure that after this Papacy, even Francis collaborators will be looking for a completely different style, away from the idea of the Church as the Papal fiefdom, or as the Pope being its President, collegiality demands better.”Sodom and Gomorrah: The Obama regime has invited assorted religious rebels to attend Pope Francis’ visit to the White House on September 23. These include homosex blogger Aaron Ledesma; homosex activist and Church critic Nicholas Coppola; Sister Jeannine Gramick, co-founder of the dissident New Ways Ministry, who in 1999 was barred by the Vatican from working with homosexuals. A certain mister Vivien Taylor, who identifies as transgender, not only scored an invite, but was told to bring some friends. Further attending is Gene Robinson, the first openly homosex Episcopal bishop. Also on hand will be Sister Simone Campbell, the leader of the “Nuns on the Bus” who actively campaigned for pro-abortion Obamacare.

Too Catholic? Cardinal John Tong Hon of Hong Kong, the largest Chinese diocese, has revealed that he was not invited to Synod on Family. He was told by the Vatican that he was “too old” and the Vatican – quote - "does not want to make any exceptions" regarding age. This is obviously untrue. Nine of those Cardinals invited to the Synod are between 77 and 87 years old. The problem with Tong may have been that he is a strong Catholic voice. No Paten: Last Saturday, the feast of the Holy Name of Mary, three Legionaries of Christ pronounced their first vows in St. Anna Basilica in the famous Bavarian pilgrimage town of Altötting. In accordance with the Vatican instruction "Redemptionis Sacramentum" they wanted to use a paten for the distribution of Holy Communion. But the rector of the Basilica, Capuchin Father Norbert Schlenker, categorically opposed it. Schlenker declared that he didn’t want – quote - "anything pre-conciliar" in the Basilica.Reality Check: Raping of female refugees has become epidemic at Muslim-dominated refugee centers in Germany, according to a document posted in German by Pamela Geller on her anti-Islam website. A report by France24, confirms the same situation in Calais, France, where 3,000 migrants from the Middle East and Africa are crowded into a tent city awaiting passage to Britain. Besides this, the refugee camps are not safe for Christians, according to Lord George Carey, the former archbishop of Canterbury. Christians are targeted in the refugee camps. The West Wants War: The Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, archbishop Fouad Twal, has warned the Western countries. Quote: “If the West does not change strategy, it will soon have millions of Syrian refugees in Europe.” According to Twal it is crazy to bomb Syria, as it has been deeply unjust to cause 300 thousand deaths in order to try to overthrow a government that has always fought Islamic fundamentalism.” Twal adds: “If the U.S. wanted, ISIS could be eliminated in a few days.” He explains: “Every day convoys with supplies pass in the desert. They are clearly visible from satellites. Why are they left undisturbed?”

New Bishop: Pope Francis has named Bishop James Johnston of Springfield-Cape Girardeau as the new bishop of Kansas City-St Joseph. He suceeds good Bishop Robert Finn who was unjustly forced by the Vatican to resign. In the past, Johnson has spoken out against homosex pseudo-marriage and against a proposed Springfield ordinance that would have added so-called sexual orientation and gender identity to the city’s list of privileged classes.Heterodox Agenda: According to Voice of the Family, Pope Francis has personally appointed leading opponents of Catholic doctrine to the upcoming Synod on the Family. Voice of the Family names the following prelats: Former Brussels Cardinal Danneels, Wellington Cardinal Dew, Cardinal Kasper, Tegucigalpa Cardinal Rodríguez Maradiaga, Vienna Cardinal Schönborn, Washington Cardinal Wuerl and Chicago Archbishop Cupich. Voice of the Family concludes: “The Synod has a heterodox agenda and many of the prelates attending it have already shown themselves either supportive of that agenda or unwilling to resist it.”Catholic Divorce: Pope Francis has abolished the obligatory double decree of nullity. Sandro Magister notices that this was already permitted in experimental form between 1971 and 1983 in the ecclesiastical tribunals of the United States. But the concession was revoked after a flood of nullity decrees issued by the tribunals and the bad reputation of “Catholic divorce” that was the result. Magister calls Pope Francis’ reform a – quote – “a colossus with feet of clay”.Suicide: This photo was taken last Saturday. It shows how the Jesuits of Valencia, Gandía and Alicante, Spain, presided Mass on the occasion of the fiftieth priestly anniversary of Fr Angel López Martín and Fr Eduardo Serón and the installation of a new superior of the community. The blog La Cigüeña de la Torre comments: “They have committed suicide and are even proud of it.”

Polemics: Last Sunday, Buenos Aires Radio Milenium aired an interview with Pope Francis. In it, Francis strongly criticizes judgmental behavour which according to him “sows distance”. Nevertheless, in the same interview he condems those who he calls “fundamentalists”. He accuses them of – quote – destroying in the name of an idea, not of a reality.” According to Gloria.tv it is as if Francis was speaking out against … the liberals for whom zeitgeisty ideologies are more important than the reality of faith .Three People, One People? In the same interview, Francis claims that – quote - “God accompanies his people and is a presence of company both in Judaism and in Christianity as well as in Islam, in the faith of these three people.”Unwelcome Prophet: According to Fr Kevin Cusick, the traditional Mass plays a needed prophetic role in the Church. Quote: “Nothing offers the presence of God more than the Holy Mass and no rite of the Latin Church more effectively than the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass.” According to him, this Mass is a prophetic gesture also to the Church, which like the Israelites of old wants to be relevant to the world by playing catch-up with a society that increasingly hates all that the Church stands for and is. Quote: “And so it is no wonder that there is hostility within the Church among her bishops and priests to this Mass, for a prophet is never welcome in his own house.”Tragic History: The Russian Government plans to burry the remains of Tsarevich Alexey and his sister Grand Duchess Maria in Catherine's aisle of the Peter and Paul Cathedral of St. Petersburg's Peter and Paul Fortress on October 18. A grave with nine bodies was found near Yekaterinburg in July 1991. They were identified as those of Tsar Nicholas II, his wife, three of their daughters and four servants, brutally murdered by the Communists. In July 2007 two more bodies were discovered 70 kilometers south of the first grave. Analyses indicate that they are those of Tsarevitch Alexey and his sister Maria.

Accusations: An anonymous seven-page dossier about the recent changes in marriage annulment is circulating in the Vatican. The German paper Zeit calls it an “accusation against Francis". It charges the pope with having introduced a de facto divorce and to have virtually given up on defending the marriage bond. According to the dossier, the annullment process is not about verifying the existence or non-existence of this bond any more, but simply about declaring as many marriages as possible null.Neo-Con Fiction: In a long article Newsweek has compared Pope Francis and San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone, exalting the first and demonizing the second because of his Catholic stances. Quote Newsweek: “The two barely belong to the same Church.” Neo-Con pundit George Weigel tries to deny the differences. Quote: "Absolutely nothing the archbishop has said is inconsistent with what Pope Francis says and teaches, although it may be inconsistent with media fictions about the pope."Holocaust: In an open letter to Pope Francis, pro-life Rabbi Yehuda Levin writes that using the term “Holocaust” to refer to abortion is not an attempt to downplay the Nazi crimes. Quote: “It is a desperate attempt to reach for a terminology which conveys the unspeakable horror of the elimination of scores of millions of preborn babies.” Levin further states that legal recognition of homosex liaisons is the approval of deviant behavior, which he considers worse than the murder of an innocent. He calls this a “spiritual” Holocaust.Sarcasm: Jill Filipovic has boasted in the New York Times that abortion brings about “positive feelings of relief or happiness.” Catholic League’s Bill Donohue replied to her, referring to the British Journal of Psychiatry, which found in 2011 that abortion leads to a staggering 81% increased risk of mental health problems regarding anxiety, depression, alcohol use, marijuana use, and suicidal behavior. In addition, post-abortion syndrome includes such emotions as guilt, feelings of numbness, avoidance of children or pregnant women, inability to bond with present or future children, eating disorders, fear of infertility, and nightmares.

Progressive Russia: A court in Krasnodar has banned eleven of the world's most-used porn sites for the whole territory of Russia, because they violate laws, which protect children. Feminist and porn activist Olga Borisova asked watchdog Roskomnadzor over Twitter for alternatives. She received the answer: "Go and make friends in real life instead of watching X-rated films.”The End Of Ashley Madison: John Gibson was a pastor, seminary professor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a husband with two children. He committed suicide after hackers published a list of customers of the notorious website Ashley Madison created for people who seek extramarital affairs. Gibson was among them. After his death Avid Life Media, Ashley Madison's parent company, which aims at destroying families, published a hypocritical statement accusing the hackers instead of blaiming themselves.True Heresy: In an interview with the Vatican periodical Civiltà Cattolica Vienna Cardinal Schönborn claimed that an adulterious or immoral sexual relationship contains – quote – “elements of true heroism, true charity and a true gift of self.” Further the pro-homosex Cardinal contradicted the Gospel by claiming that Catholics are obliged to – quote – respect – the decision of two persons to establish a homosexual liaison although this is gravely sinful.False Compassion: Cardinal Raymond Burke, a expert in the field, has criticized the streamlining of the marriage annulment procedure in a talk given at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. According to Burke the streamlining violates the Church’s obligation to determine that a given marriage is truly null. He pointed at the dangers of “sentimentalism” and “false compassion,” which reflect an “anti-law-mentality” that afflicts the Church since the end of the Second Vatican Council.Discrimination: The Christian schools in Israel, most of them Catholic, consider pushing for a close-down of the pilgrimage places in the Holy Land in order to press the Israeli government to increase their funding. 47 schools are striking since the beginning of the new school year. Israel has continously reduced the support of the school from 65 to presently 29%. On the contrary Jewish religious schools are funded to 100% by the state although they often teach only a limited curriculum and are not inclusive.

Wrong Reform? Pope Francis has decided to make annulments faster and less expensive. But a Pew Research Center survey found that divorced U.S. Catholics who did not seek annulments did not cite the cost or the length of the process as a reason. 43% of them did not seek an annulment because they did not see it as necessary. Only 7% did not attempt to get an annulment because it was too expensive and 4% because it was too complicated or time-consuming. Only 25% of divorced U.S. Catholics sought an annulment. The Root of the Problem: The crisis in Catholic doctrine on marriage has its roots in the Second Vatican Council, according to the Italian historian Roberto de Mattei speaking to Gloria.tv. In particular, de Mattei calls the Council document Gaudium et Spes ambiguous and confused. Until the Council, the Church referred to the objective procreation as the first purpose of marriage. Instead, Gaudium et spes puts in its place a subjectively understood, mutual love of the spouses. That's why De Mattei calls for a debate on the Second Vatican Council in view of the upcoming Synod on the Family.Money: The U.S. Church is threatened by a potentially crippling shortfall in funding the pensions of its ageing priests. According to Reuters the pension funding shortfall in 2014 likely approached $2 billion. The Church has lost millions of its members since Second Vatican Council and billons of its Dollars in the wake the homosexual abuse scandals.More Churches: The city Sankt Petersburg in Russia needs three times as many churches as it has now according to the Metropolitan bishop Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga. Quote: “Today there are over 200 churches in St. Petersburg, most of them are located in its historic center, and certainly this is not enough for such a populated city." Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has set a task for hierarchs that there should be at least one church for 10,000 people.

Catholic Divorce: Patrick Archbold has “a great deal of concern” about yesterday’s changes in the process of annulment of marriage, introduced by the Pope. Francis abolished the automatic appeals process and all power is now placed in the Bishop and his appointees. For Archbold this will predictably open up the possibility of Catholic divorce.Confusing: Pope Francis transmitted a video message to last week’s International Congress of Theology held in Buenos Aires. In it he claims that – quote – “one is not a Christian in the same way in the Argentina of today as in the Argentina of 100 years ago. One is not a Christian in the same way in India, in Canada as in Rome.” He also deplores an opposition generated between Theology and Pastoral Care, but he locates this especially in the times before Second Vatican Council. He locates Christ’s incarnation – quote – “in this concrete world, this concrete Argentina, in her streets, in her neighborhoods, in her people.”Reality Check: Bishop Laszlo Kiss-Rigo of Szeged-Csanád, Hungary, called the influx of migrants, which is especially massive in the Szeged area quote – “an invasion”. Quote: “They come here with cries of ‘Allahu Akbar.’” The bishop is “in total agreement” with prime minister Victor Orban who attempts to take control over the migration. He also stated that Pope Francis “doesn’t know the situation.” Kiss-Rigo said that the migrants are posing as refugees but actually present a grave threat to the continent’s Christian values. According to him they leave rubbish in their wake and refuse when offered food.Only The Old Remain: Chaldean Catholic Bishop Antoine Audo of Aleppo, Syria, has commented on the refugee crisis: “We cannot honestly tell people: run away, someone will welcome you.” “I'll never say a bad word against who leaves because he wants to protect his children. But for us it's a pain to see families leaving, and many of them are Christian. It is a sign that the war will not end, and that those will ultimately prevail who want to destroy the country.” Audo hears in Aleppo about young people who say to each other: ‘Let us form a group and go, let us escape on our own, without asking our families’. Quote: “This means that only the old remain here.”

Wrong Man: With less than 24 hours notice, the Vatican has announced that today, Tuesday, two Apostolic Letters of Pope Francis will be published. They will introduce a speed-up of the declaration of nullity of marriage. The letters will be presented among others by Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, the president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts. Coccopalmerio has not been replaced by Pope Francis although he is 77 years old. He is an outspoken member of the pro-homosex and pro-divorce faction among the cardinals.Corruption Among Bishops: Bishop Markus Büchel of Saint Gall, Switzerland, the president of the Swiss Bishops’ Conference, has declared in front of the media that – quote – “we cannot deny our blessing if two homosexuals want to live together.” He added that there is not yet a written ritual for such blessings.Media Hypocrisy: The media have made much noise about the image of the Kurdish boy Alan Kurdi who tragically drawned while attempting to cross from Turkey to the Greek island of Kos. The German investigative blog "dies-ist-abtreibung.de" criticizes that the dead child is called – quote - "the decline of Europe", while the same media praise the brutal killing of children by abortion as a human right.Imagination: Father Ray Blake commented on the Pope's request that every European parish should welcome at least one refugee family. Father is disappointed that the two Vatican parishes take only one family each: “I was hoping Francis might follow Pope Pius XII and have refugee women giving birth in his bed, that there might actually be twelve families in the former Apostolic apartments, he said there was room for them when he first was shown them. I hoped that the papal holiday home Castel Gandolfo might also be used, I certainly welcomed the idea of St Marta being overrun by refugee toddlers, it would give a whole new perspective to the Synod on the Family. Cardinal Kasper on the floor playing with bricks, Baldissieri playing hide and seek, archbishop Forte changing nappies ... my imagination runs away with me - but you get my drift.”

Culprit: Edward Pentin’s new book “The Rigging of a Vatican Synod?: An Investigation into Alleged Manipulation at the Extraordinary Synod on the Family” shows that last October’s Synod was subject to manipulation. The book carries the endorsement of Durban Cardinal Wilfrid Fox. Pentin identifies the General Secretary of the Synod, Lorenzo Cardinal Baldisseri, as one of the chief manipulator of the Synod. Baldisseri is directly responsible to the Pope. He is accused of promoting pro-homosex and pro-divorce stances and of suppressing Catholic positions.Dramatic Drop: The numbers of the participants at the Pope’s Wednesday General Audiences are dropping. According to data published by the Vatican, in 2013 the average number of participants at a Wednesday Audience was about 52.000. This number dropped in 2014 to 28.000 and in 2015 to 15.000 participants.A Hero: Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis who has been in office for 27 years and who refuses to issue homosexual pseudo-marriage licenses has issued a statement. She writes: “I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God’s definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience.” And: “To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is a matter of religious liberty.” Kim has received death threats from pro-homosex groups.According to the journalist Gianluca Barile, Cardinal Müller, the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has allegedly forbidden the visionaries of Medjugorje to divulge messages of Our Lady. The bishops are ordered to forbid public apperances of the seers in their dioceses. Nevertheless, on September 29th Vienna Cardinal Schönborn will host in his Cathedral an event with Marija Pavolvic-Lunetti, one of the six visionaries of Medjugorie who claims to have daily apparitions of Our Lady since 1981.

Sharp Decline: Medjugorje has seen a decline in visitors after Pope Francis said a decision on the apparitions is imminent according to the New York Times. The bulk of pilgrims that visit the Bosnian town are Italians. “Whatever the verdict turns out to be, this wait is creating a state of uncertainty for the pilgrims, and that affects the season,” said Sante Frigo, an Italian married to a pilgrim guide in Medjugorje.” And: “From the point of view of the pilgrimage supply chain it’s been a catastrophe.”Future: In 2115 Catholics are likely to be Great Britain’s largest Christian body according to Dominic Selwood. The Church of England will have disappeared before 2050. By 2100 Islam has will have overtaken Christianity to become the single largest religion on the planet.Happy To Die: Under the title “More sisters on the verge of closing down” the blog La Cigüeña de la Torre has published pictures of the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell how they looked before and after Second Vatican Council. The blog comments: “It seems as if they are happy to die.”Courageous Act: Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Jos, the president of the Nigerian bishops’ conference, opened on Tuesday, his 13th annual Catholic assembly with a sort of “State of the Union” address, which touched on gay marriage. Quote: “The culture of same-sex marriage is alien to our understanding of the family and should not be imposed on Nigerians,” he said, drawing vigorous applause from a crowd of priests, nuns, and lay delegates. In January 2014, Nigeria adopted a law criminalizing homosexuality, and the country’s bishops called the move a “courageous act.”
