    A Problem: On January 1958 Martin Luther King answered in the advice column of Ebony magazine to a boy who was looking for help because he felt homosexual temptations. King wrote: “Your problem is not at all an uncommon one.” And: “It is necessary to deal with this problem by getting back to some of the experiences and circumstances that lead to the habit.” King recommends the boy to see a psychiatrist and adds: “You are already on the right road toward a solution, since you honestly recognize the problem and have a desire to solve it.”
